CSP January throughput rises 7% to 8.38 m TEU
Cosco Shipping Ports (CSP) reported a 7% container throughput in January to 8.38 million Twenty Foot Equivalent Unit (TEU) from 7.83 million TEU in the previous corresponding period. Asia-Europe rate falls 6% to USD 858 TEU, off 3.7% to Med ports
Spot rates for shipping containers from Asia to northern Europe fell 6% to USD 858 per Twenty Foot Equivalent Unit (TEU) in the week ending Friday, according to the Shanghai Containerized Freight Index (SCFI). Hyundai Merchant Marine (HMM) has announced that its Asia-US West Coast (USWC) volume in January 2017 increased by 55.3% year-on-year.
