Container volumes at Singapore Port increase 8.5% in Ju 17 July 2017

Container volumes at the port of Singapore have risen in June compared to the year-ago level, according to preliminary estimates from the Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore (MPA).

In June 2017, box throughput was recorded at 2.82m Twenty Foot Equivalent Unit (TEU), an increase of 8.5% compared to 2.6m TEUs seen in June 2016.

Railways biggest govt. litigant with over 66,000 cases 17 July 2017

The railway ministry is the biggest litigant among the government departments as it is a party to over 66,000 cases pending in courts across the country, the law ministry says.

Government litigation includes service matters, disputes with private entities as well as disputes between two government departments and two PSUs, according to a law ministry document of June 2017.

Kamarajar Port enhancing coal handling capacity 17 July 2017

2 new coals berths are being constructed at Kamarajar Port and the existing iron ore berth is also being converted into a coal berth, which will increase its coal handling capacity by 36 million tonnes per annum (mtpa).

Paradip Port handles 18.63% more cargo in Q1 2017-18 17 July 2017

Paradip Port has handled 24.44 million tonnes (mt) of cargo in the first quarter of 2017-18 (April-June) as against 20.59 mt in the corresponding period of the previous fiscal (2016-17), a growth rate of 18.63%.
