July port volumes rise 5% to 752,000 TEU despite monsoo 12 August 2017

India’s major ports in July saw their total container throughput rise 5% year on year to 752,000 Twenty Foot Equivalent Unit (TEU), a growth was led by Mumbai's Jawaharlal Nehru Port Trust (JNPT).

JNPT handled 401,923 TEU in July, up 5.4% compared to the same month a year earlier.

Cargojet quarterly pretax profit rises 9.3% to USD 24.6 12 August 2017

Cargojet's pre-tax second quarter profit increased 9.3% year on year to USD 24.6 million, drawn on revenues of USD 88.2 million, up 11.2%.

The company said revenues were up on increased volumes from existing overnight customers, contractual annual price increases related to the consumer price index and fuel surcharges. This was partially offset by a decrease in charter revenue...

AAI planning international air cargo facility at Coimba 12 August 2017

The Airports Authority of India (AAI) is planning to have a world-class international cargo facility in Coimbatore to tap the export cargo business in a year.

Inaugurating a new 1500square meter domestic cargo terminal at Chennai airport on Friday, AAI chairman Guruprasad Mohapatra export cargo from Coimbatore - which is a manufacturing hub -- is being routed through Kochi.

Port of Riga cargo throughput drops 5.8% Y-Y to 19.99 m 12 August 2017

Freight traffic at Latvia based Free Port of Riga in January-July 2017 fell 5.8% on the same period of 2016 to 19,990,100 tonnes, the Port Authority said.

The seven-month cargo volumes includes 7,365,200 tonnes (+5.1%), 3,549,800 tonnes of oil products (-34.4%), 380,400 tonnes (+9.2%) of wood pellets.

Ashok Leyland bags INR 120 cr Rivigo order 12 August 2017

Ashok Leyland (AL) has received a INR 120 crore plus order from logistics company Rivigo for supply of 500 fully-built vehicles, with iEGR (Intelligent Exhaust Gas Recirculation) technology, developed by AL.
