Milaha new PQX to establish a second weekly service to & from Mundra

29 August 2017 | Doha

Milaha has announced the launch of a direct service between Pakistan and Qatar, the PQX (Pakistan Qatar Express service), which will also establish a second weekly service to and from Mundra, India.

This will add to Milaha’s existing Mundra call as part of the IQX (India Qatar Express service), said a release.

PQX will be operated with two 1,700 Twenty Foot Equivalent Unit (TEU) vessels and a weekly call in all ports through a Mesaieed - Mundra - Karachi - Hamad - Mesaieed rotation. The first vessel will depart from Karachi Port on September 7, 2017 and arrive at Hamad Port on September 11.

PQX will operate weekly between Karachi, Pakistan and Hamad Port, Qatar with a competitive transit time of 4 days, making it the fastest direct connection between the two countries.

"We have been vigorously ramping up our operations between Qatar and key Asian markets in response to growing demand from traders, importers, and exporters on both sides. Our new PQX service will cater mainly to perishable products and other food stuff, and will increase options for customers in Pakistan and India to access Qatar and other Arabian Gulf markets."

"This is part of Milaha’s ongoing commitment to support the growing trade between Qatar and its partners by delivering tailor-made, cost-efficient supply chain solutions,” said Milaha’s President and Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Abdulrahman Essa Al-Mannai.

Milaha continues to enhance its international presence and diverse portfolio of marine and logistics services.

The release said that the company has recently expanded into several new shipping routes and accelerated deployment of new supply chain solutions across a number of countries. Milaha currently calls 2 ports in Oman (Sohar and Salalah), 3 ports in India (Nhava Sheva, Mundra and Kandla) and one port in Kuwait (Shuwaikh), offering enhanced connectivity and transit times to Qatar and the region, and is actively evaluating further expansion of services.
