HK containers continue to reverse slide, up 13% to 1.85 million TEU in May

The Port of Hong Kong increased container throughput 13.4% year on year to 1.85 million Twenty Foot Equivalent Unit (TEU) in May.

Kwai Tsing terminals experience a 14.3% increase to 1.48 million TEU, reversing a downward trend that has dogged the port for since 2015.

Other terminals saw throughput rise 9.7% to 370,000 TEU in May. Year-to-date, Hong Kong enjoyed a 12.3% increase to 8.47 million TEU, a 12.3% year on year increase.
