South Eastern Railway freight loading rises 11%
South Eastern Railway (SER) during the first eleven months (April 2016 to February 2017) has seen a near 11% rise in freight loading to 133.80 million tonnes (mt). For the corresponding 11-month-period last fiscal this number stood at 120.87 mt.
According to a release issued by SER, this is 3.73% above the target set by the Railway Board for the period under review.
During the first eleven months of current financial year, loading of iron ore was to the tune of 77.84 mt, a growth of 16.72% compared to the same period last year.
SER has generated freight earnings of INR 10059 crore (apprx) during April-February period, an increase of nearly 8%.
