Chardham highway project will be completed by 2018 17 February 2017

The INR 12,000 crore 'Chardham' highway project in Uttarakhand will be completed by the end of 2018 irrespective of which party comes to power in the state, Union minister Nitin Gadkari has assured.

Minister for Road Transport and Highways Gadkari also exuded confidence of winning the state election. Assembly elections in Uttarakhand were held in a single phase yesterday and the results will be announced on March 11.

He said that "This (Chardham project) is a promise made to the people of Uttarakhand. Prime Minister Narendra Modi has initiated the process.

IL&FS Engineering bags INR 123 cr orders from GAIL 17 February 2017

IL&FS Engineering and Construction Company Limited has received a contract from Gas Authority of India Limited for two pipeline laying contracts worth INR 123.05 crore in Kerala and Karnataka.

Both the spreads are contiguous and are part of Kochi-Koottanad-Mangalore pipeline project.

IL&FS Engineering Services is already executing a part of this Kochi-Koottanad-Mangalore pipeline project for GAIL worth INR 173.13 crore in Kerala.

The company informed in a statement, the company recently won another pipeline laying contract from GAIL worth INR 162.58 crore in Bihar.

Ramky Infrastructure posts Q3 net at INR 27.7 cr 16 February 2017

Ramky Infrastructure Limited posted a net profit of INR 27.63 crore for the third quarter ended December 31, 2016 as against a loss of INR 10.43 crore for the corresponding quarter last year on a standalone basis.

The company income for the third quarter was up at INR 373.24 crore as against INR 341.80 crore for the corresponding quarter last year.

For the nine months ended December 31, 2016, the company posted a loss of INR 28.89 crore and income of INR 906.84 crore as against a loss of INR 157.09 crore and income of INR 925.81 crore for the corresponding nine months of previous fiscal.

IL&FS Engineering bags contracts worth INR 515 cr in WB 03 February 2017

IL&FS Engineering and Construction Company Limited has received Letter of Intent for two Rural Electrification Works under the Deen Dayal Upadhyay Gram Jyoti Yojana, and Integrated Power Development Works of West Bengal State Electricity Distribution Company Limited, Kolkata, worth INR 515.47 crore.

The DDUGJY–RE contracts are being funded by Rural Electrification Corporation and IPDS contracts are being funded by Power Financial Corporation, the company informed in a statement.

Larsen & Toubro builds iron ore berth at Paradip Port 01 February 2017

Larsen & Toubro (L&T) has won orders worth INR 1,286 crore across various segments and, among them, one prestigious order is to build an iron ore at Paradip, Odisha.

The scope of work includes 30m deep sheet pile driving, wagon tippler construction using coffer dam technology and ground improvement for stacker reclaimer.

Ashoka Buildcon gets INR 117-cr power project in Bihar 31 January 2017

Highway sector player Ashoka Buildcon today said it has bagged a power project worth INR 116.72 crore in Bihar.

Ashoka Buildcon said, “The company has received a letter of award for the project viz. turnkey contracts for providing APL Service Connection with LT line extension under the state plan in 7 circles under the jurisdiction of North Bihar Power Distributions Company Limited.”

It further said: “The accepted value of contracts is INR 116.72 crore.”

The stock was trading 2.75% up at INR 189 on BSE.

Gadkari says: Government focus on infra to cut down logistics cost 30 January 2017

Union Minister Nitin Gadkari said, Government is working on boosting infrastructure, particularly ports, roads and waterways, to significantly reduce logistics cost that is “very high” in the country.

He made a pitch for port-led development which is “crucial” for higher economic growth. He said that “Our logistics cost is very high. It is 18%.

It is easy to take any material from Mumbai to Dubai or from Mumbai to London, but it is very difficult to take material from Mumbai to Delhi as it is costly and complicated. We want to give highest priority to that on how we can reduce this cost.”

L&T bags orders worth INR 1,286 cr 28 January 2017

Larsen & Toubro (L&T) today said it has won orders worth INR 1,286 crore across various segments.

The company said this includes an order worth INR 1,071 crore won by Heavy Civil Infrastructure Business (HCIB).

It said one of the orders won by HCIB pertains to underground metro space and has been secured from MetroLink Express for Gandhinagar and Ahmedabad (MEGA) Company Limited for the design and construction of underground stations and associated tunnels for Package 2 in East-West corridor of the Ahmedabad metro project.

TN Govt. & NHAI to meet over stalled Maduravoyal highway 12 January 2017

A team of technical experts from the Tamil Nadu (TN) government, the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI), and the Chennai Port Trust — will study issues related to re-alignment and changes, if any, on the stalled INR 1,815-crore elevated road project from Chennai port to Maduravoyal.

The State government had suggested to NHAI on possibility of replacing two-piers with one on a stretch of nearly 2 kilometer (km) on the Cooum River near Spur Tank Road in Chetpet. It also wanted a re-alignment in structure without disturbing Defence quarters near Napier Bridge, said sources.

Road & Shipping Projects to cross INR 6 lakh cr by the end of March 09 January 2017

The Government exuded confidence that in value terms, projects in the road and shipping sector would cross over INR 6 lakh crore by the end of March.

The Government also expressed hope that it would meet its highway construction target of 15,000 kilometer (km) for the current fiscal.

Nitin Gadkari said recently "In the road and shipping sector, we have already alloted work of around INR 4,60,000 crore. By March-end, we will definitely cross INR 6 lakh crore. We will try to do more than this.”
