India’s first dedicated heliport to open in Delhi 21 February 2017

The capital will soon get India's 1st dedicated "heliport" for flying in and out of Delhi to nearby areas in choppers.

The INR 100-crore project will be inaugurated on February 28 and will be an integrated one with a chopper maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO) unit part of the complex at Rohini, said Aviation secretary R N Choubey.

Owned by Pawan Hans Helicopters Limited (PHHL), the hugely-delayed heliport will have a large number of parking bays and an AC passenger terminal building with car parking area for the flyers. Choubey said that the heliport will bring choppers within the reach of common man.

Vistara extends INR 899 sale offer 18 February 2017

Vistara on Friday said it has extended its special offer of tickets starting at INR 899 till February 19.

The tickets can be booked for travel between February 28 and September 20 this year.

The airline had started the sale on February 14 and it was supposed to end today.

Under the offer, a Guwahati-Bagdogra flight ticket can be booked for as low as INR 899, a Jammu-Srinagar or Goa-Mumbai flight can be booked for INR 1,499 and a Delhi-Ahmedabad flight can be booked for INR 1,899.

HAL bags IAI orders 18 February 2017

Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL) has been selected by Israel Aerospace Industries for further supply of Boeing 737 Main Deck Cargo Door.

A contract to this effect was signed at Aero India on Friday.

T Suvarna Raju, Chairman and Managing Director, HAL said in a statement here, “This reflects the confidence reposed by our valued customer.”

It added, HAL has already manufactured and supplied more than 30 of 737 Main Deck Cargo Doors to IAI. Appreciating the timely delivery and quality, IAI has placed further orders.

Air India Express starts Delhi-Dhaka flight 17 February 2017

Air India Express today launched its services from the national capital to Dhaka.

The airline, the budget arm of the national carrier Air India, will provide the service four times a week -- Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays. On the Dhaka-Delhi sector, the flight will be on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays.

The carrier has a code share with Air India on this route. Besides, it plans to provide code share connections on Air India flights from the UK and the US to Dhaka and vice versa via Delhi, according to a press release.

Singapore Airlines to start fourth flight from Ahmedabad 17 February 2017

With travellers from Gujarat showing a preference for weekend visits to Singapore - for holiday and shopping - Singapore Airlines has tapped the opportunity by launching an additional flight from Ahmedabad.

On Thursday the flagship carrier of the island city-state announced the launch of its fourth weekly flight from Ahmedabad to Singapore, starting from March 26.

GVK wins bid to develop second Mumbai airport 14 February 2017

Mumbai International Airport Limited (MIAL), the GVK-owned consortium running the Mumbai airport has won the bid for the much-delayed, discussed and debated INR 16,000 crore airport project coming up in Navi Mumbai.

Rival GMR Infrastructure was the only other bidder in the final round.

The project is seen as a crucial alternate to the congested airport in the city.

The government had initially approved setting up the airport in 2007, but it ran into several environmental and land acquisition problems till the last stages of the final bid. Each stage has been delayed for months, pending clarity and clearances.

Air India Express to start Delhi-Dhaka services from February 16 11 February 2017

Air India Express will commence Delhi-Dhaka flight from February 16 as the budget carrier seeks to expand the international presence.

The carrier, which is the low-cost arm of national carrier Air India, would inaugurate the operations between Dhaka and Delhi on February 17. In a release, Air India Express said there would be four weekly flights on the route.

The flight would operate from Delhi on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays.

From Dhaka, the service would be on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays.

GMR Hyderabad International Airport Limited (GHIAL), which operates Rajiv Gandhi International Airport, has won the Centre for Asia Pacific Aviation (CAPA) Chairman’s Order of Merit for its focus on environmental sustainability and becoming the first airport in Asia Pacific to become carbon neutral.

GHIAL received the award during the CAPA 12 Annual India Aviation Summit in Mumbai earlier this week.

Cargo terminal for city airport ahead of biz meet 09 February 2017

Chief minister Raghubar Das will inaugurate a cargo terminal at Birsa Munda Airport on Friday.

Airport authorities here on Wednesday said the terminal would be able to handle up to 50 tonnes of cargo everyday once it becomes operational.

Rakesh Singh, officer on special duty said,“Our efforts are directed towards getting the terminal ready before the global investment summit on February 16 and 17. We had received directives from the state industries department early in January. AirAsia India to start international operations by mid 2018 09 February 2017

AirAsia India is likely to commence international operations from the second half of the next calendar year as it is expected to have a fleet of 20 aircraft by mid 2018.

The domestic budget airline, which is a joint venture between Tata Sons and Malysian carrier AirAsia, has eight aircraft in its fleet and as per the norm, requires a minimum of 20 planes to fly on international routes.
