Gati posts INR 6.5 cr net profit 13 February 2017

Gati Limited has posted a lower net profit of INR 6.49 crore for the third quarter ended December 31, 2016 against a net profit of INR 11.07 crore in the corresponding quarter on a consolidated basis.

Total income from operations for the express distribution and supply chain solutions company was up at INR 424.87 crore for the December quarter against INR 417.8 crore in the same period last year.

While the revenue was up 1.8%, the net profit was down 41% due to additional amortisation expense of INR 2.94 crore due to foreign exchange loss on restatement of FCCB. The company stated that the performance reflects the challenging external environment.

1st Logistics Park to come up at Nagpur 13 February 2017

The first Logistics park to be set up by the Road Ministry and National Highway Authority of India (NHAI) as part of the Union Budget announcement a few days ago will come up at the home constituency of the Union Transport Minister Shri Nitin Gadkari.

Centre is drawing up a proposal to set up Warehousing zones on the outskirts of major cities through public private partnership while the NHAI has been entrusted with the task of setting up Logistics Parks announced by Finance Minister Arun Jaitley in the last budget. By setting up these parks the attempt is to bring down the Logistics costs by at least 50% so that Indian goods are competitive in global markets.

Coal India Q3 net profit dips 20% to INR 2,884 cr 13 February 2017

Coal India Limited, on Saturday, reported 20% drop in net profit to INR 2,884 crore during the October-December 2016 quarter.

This is due to INR 772 crore (10%) rise in “employee benefit expenses”, which is a provisioning done in anticipation of the upcoming wage settlement. Overall, the company provided for INR 1,400 crore on this head during the nine month period.

Coal off-take or sales grew by a mere 3.6% during the quarter. For the year so far, off-take shows a marginal 0.77% increase over the corresponding period in 2015.

Concor focusing on building multi-modal logistics parks near ports 11 February 2017

According to Chairman V. Kalyanarama, the Container Corporation of India (Concor) is mainly focusing on building multi-modal logistics parks (MMLP) in the vicinity of ports and in the hinterland to bring down logistics costs and to promote containerisation.

He was here on Saturday to participate in the East Coast Maritime Business Summit organised by the Hyderabad-based magazine Maritime Gateway.

Govt. plans to commence 1st Multi-Modal Hub from Varanasi 06 February 2017

The Government’s plan to integrate various modes of transport beginning from Varanasi.

The Country’s first multi-modal hub with rail-road connectivity will be in the city.

The hub would be a pilot for other 50-60 projects planned by the Central Government, said officials. The idea to de-congest Varanasi is a brainchild of PM Narendra Modi, who asked Union RoadT, Highways and Shipping Minister Nitin Gadkari to implement it on priority basis.

Multi-modal transport is a seamless movement of goods and passengers involving at least two different means of transport.

Agility Logistics opens centre in Hyderabad 04 February 2017

Agility has opened on Friday its first temperature-controlled life sciences storage and handling facility in collaboration with in partnership with va-Q-tec in Hyderabad.

The 6,000 square feet facility at Rajiv Gandhi International Airport will cater to pharma manufacturers in the city along with Goa, Pune, Visakhapatnam and Bengaluru.

The centre will provide conditioning, preparation and storage of pharmaceutical goods and operate as a control tower for Agility Life Sciences' customers in India.

Jaitley gives big push to multi-modal logistics & transport sector 02 February 2017

The Finance Minister has stressed on the need to have an effective multi-modal logistics and transport sector, which will make the economy more competitive.

Arun Jaitley said, “A specific programme for development of multi-modal logistics parks, together with multi-modal transport facilities, will be drawn up and implemented.”

He added that “For the transportation sector as a whole, including rail, roads, shipping, the Finance Ministry has proposed INR 2,41,387 crore in 2017-18. This magnitude of investment will spur a huge amount of economic activity across the country and create more job opportunities.”

Coal imports fell by 25% to 14.31 MT in Dec 18 January 2017

Coal imports fell by 25% to 14.31 million tonnes (mt) in December, due to higher availability of domestic fuel.

The Country had imported 19.15 mt of coal in December 2015.

“Coal import (all type of coals) in December 2016 stood at 14.31 mt (provisional) against 19.15 mt in December 2015,” mjunction, an online procurement and sales platform floated jointly by State-run SAIL and Tata Steel said.

Sical Logistics may zoom on new order 14 January 2017

Sical Logistics has bagged a INR 304-crore order from Northern Coal Fields for excavation of overburden at Jhingurdah, Madhya Pradesh.

The contract has to be executed in four years, the company said in a notification to stock exchanges.

Investors will closely monitor the execution. Sical Logistics posted a profit of INR 9.96 crore for the quarter ended September 2016 and INR 10.17 crore for Q1. For fiscal 2016, it posted a profit of INR 18.48 crore.
