Odisha sets a target to reach INR 1 lakh cr exports by 2025 26 July 2017

The State Government of Odisha, which is working on a new state export policy, has set a target of reaching INR 1 lakh crore of exports by the year 2025.

L N Gupta, Additional Chief Secretary, Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSME) Department said that “Odisha has set a target of achieving an export turnover of INR 1 lakh crore by 2025.”

He added that the Government is working on a number of enabling factors that would be included into the new export policy in order to give a major boost to the State’s export turnover.

Piramal Finance to spend INR 485 cr in Apollo LogiSolutions 01 July 2017

Piramal Enterprises Limited through its subsidiary Piramal Finance Limited has committed INR 485 crore to integrated third party logistics (3PL) solutions provider, Apollo LogiSolutions.

Piramal Finance will be a long-term investor in the company as it seeks to scale up its operations over the coming years.

Apollo LogiSolutions plans to use this growth capital in various capacities such as organic growth of existing business, ramping up of new business ventures as well as consolidation of ownership in various joint ventures.


Iron ore export slumps with fall in global prices 26 June 2017

Iron ore exports from India were down 53% in the past two months as China, a major consumer, took better quality ore from Australia to feed its integrated steel plants, taking advantage of a slump in global prices.

Macquarie Research says after a surge in iron ore export to 49 million tonnes (mt) in March, these slumped to 23 mt in May. With seaborne ore prices down 40% from the peak in late February, the Indian high-cost export is fading away.

It said that Shipments from Goa have become unviable and volumes from the east coast have started diverting to domestic markets.

Myanmar has planned to promote trade with India by increasing items of tradable goods.

U Aung Htoo, Deputy Minister for Commerce, told a parliament session in Nay Pyi Taw recently that Myanmar had held high level consultations with India on border trade.

For the purpose of promoting trade between the two countries, a series of joint committee meetings related to bilateral trade, border trade and border- market were held.

High-ranking officials from both sides had extensive discussions on opening a trade zone in Htantalan in Myanmar's Western Chin State and a new trade zone in Pan Khwar, Mizoram State in India.

Jharia coal mine fire hits train operations 13 June 2017

Passenger train functioning will be impacted on the Dhanbad section, one of the busiest sections, following the fire in Jharia coal mine.

According to an official release, the Railways has diverted some trains, while 17 pairs of trains have been cancelled. Scientific studies have been conducted by the Central Institute of Mining and Fuel Research and the Central Mine Planning and Design Institute.

The Ministry of Coal intimated the Railways that the Dhanbad-Chandrapura section should be closed for train operations in view of the fire.

The plan to set up this project close to the upcoming multi-mode terminal along the Ganga has attracted major players including Dubai Port World and IL&FS.

Allcargo Q4 net slips marginally 24 May 2017

Allcargo Logistics today reported a marginal dip of 2% in consolidated net profit at INR 57.24 crore for the quarter ended March 31, 2017.

The company’s net profit was at INR 58.64 crore in the year-ago quarter. Its total income from operations during the quarter was at INR 1,362.81 crore, as against INR 1,390 crore a year ago.

The firm’s total expenses fell to INR 1,295.79 crore, compared to INR 1,319.17 crore in the year-ago period.

Lynk to launch logistics services in Hyderabad 05 May 2017

Lynk has launched its services in the city.

Addressing a press conference here on Thursday, Abinav Raja, Co-founder, Lynk Logistics, said that the intra-city platform will focus on small and medium enterprises and home residents for intra-city logistics.

Hyderabad is the second city after Chennai for Lynk’s operations. It is targeting 75,000 downloads of its app and hopeful of completing one lakh trips in Hyderabad in next 12 months.

Lynk is a technology platform for intra-city logistics that connects a shipper with a transporter.
