DB Schenker has opened a new 21,000 square meter logistics warehouse and operations center at Erskine Park in Sydney, Australia.

The new logistics facility will serve Australia's electronics, consumer, healthcare and office supply firms. DB Schenker said that the facility will handle about 20,000 pallet positions as well as includes plug and play technologies for different systems and customers backed up with its own Warehouse Management System (WMS).

The facility is the sixteenth center for the company in Australia as well as fifth in New South Wales for Schenker Australia, the local unit of DB Schenker.

Schenker chairman and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Mr. Thomas Lieb said that Erskine Park forms a vital link in the company's global chain and the opening marks an important step in its strategy of expanding its contract logistics footprint in Australia.

"In Australia, we deliver almost half a million items each year and many of them will pass through Greater Western Sydney," Mr. Lieb said.
